CHRIS TURNEY
Chris is a certified ADAPT Trainer and has been playing competitive soccer for over 15 years.
Several months before going to play Division I soccer, Chris broke his ankle. After reconstructive surgery and rehab at ADAPT, he opted to play Division III at Trinity University in Texas. As a sophomore, his team reached the NCAA National Championship game.
Following two seasons at Trinity, Chris returned home to Oregon where he grew up. He attended University of Oregon and was a member of the club soccer team. In his first season, he played pivotal role in helping the team win the regional championships. As a result, Chris was selected to be the player head-coach for the following year. After a successful season as player coach he graduated with a BA in Journalism & Communication, and then traveled to South Africa to watch the World Cup.
In his youth, Chris played on FC Portland and Oregon ODP. He accumulated several state and regional awards, and captained Lincoln High School earning honors. Chris also had a stint playing in England for Leeds United's youth academy.
Chris has coached at the University of Portland summer camps, and continues to work with the UO club team.
In addition, he has experience coaching the mental side of the game. From a young age he was tutored by success coach and ex-professional soccer player Kevin Mincher. Chris has interned with Unstoppable Teen — a company that helps young people achieve their goals — and received qualifications in Neuro-Linguistic Programming.
