ADAPT Therapy

BALANCE VERSUS IMPROPER MUSCULAR FUNCTION

Many people are tired of nagging, recurring injuries where the only treatment options are rest, medications or surgery. What if there was a way to train your body with specific exercises that would alleviate your symptoms? Many common health issues are nothing more than a product of improper muscular function.

Muscles control the position and movement of the bones with relation to each other. If your muscles are not balanced or functioning properly, your bones may not be in proper alignment with one another. When this is the case, the connective tissues between the bones are put in a compromised position. Many conditions such as tendonitis, joint sprains, disc herniation, stress fractures, arthritis and muscle spasms can all be linked to muscular dysfunction.

BENEFITS OF EXERCISE STIMULUS

The ADAPT program is based on a proactive philosophy of restoring proper muscular function of the human body. This re-education facilitates optimal healing. Proper muscular function is achieved through a series of exercises designed to meet the unique needs of each client. The routines (physical supplements) are based on the muscular imbalances and the information provided by the client, who is the greatest source of information. The client's knowledge of their body far exceeds any professional in the field. Without this active feedback, the ADAPT Trainer cannot accurately judge how the exercises are affecting the body.

RE-EDUCATION PROCESS

Muscular reeducation is composed of a progression of evaluations and training sessions. We spend time gathering client information to help identify imbalances. Next, we put the client through a series of anatomical diagnostic positions to identify muscular dysfunction. We use this information to design the proper physical progression to counter the dysfunction identified in their body. The client will then take the routine home and continue to do their exercises for seven to ten days. At this time, they will return for another evaluation based on how their body reacted to the previous set of exercises. The average routine can take between 20 minutes to one hour depending on the injury severity and physical goals of the client. This process continues until the individual's body can demonstrate primary muscular function free of pain. The number of sessions can vary for each individual. Our program is completely dependent on the client's desire to get better.

FROM PAIN-FREE TO MEETING PERSONAL GOALS

Following the evaluation process the client enters a training progression where an ADAPT Therapist tests the client's structural integrity. This testing continues until the client shows that their body can accomplish specific critical movements without pain. At this point, the client can continue training with an ADAPT Therapist to increase their strength and endurance to meet their personal therapy goals.
